Non-Profit Spotlight - Pensacola Dream Center
Pensacola Dream Center's, Canopy of Hope is a safe temporary shelter dedicated to providing a haven for women who have experienced abuse or trafficking, offering them a trauma-informed shelter. At our shelter, we prioritize creating a nurturing environment where they can begin their healing journey. Our facility is designed to be a comforting and secure space, offering a sense of solace and respite from the traumas they have endured. In addition to providing a safe physical space, we address the emotional and psychological needs of our residents.
Through our mentorship program, we connect women with compassionate and experienced mentors who guide and support them in their recovery process. We partner with Health and Hope, Sexual Assault Team, Community Health, and Lakeview to provide specialized mental and trauma counseling. We strive to bring our ladies into a stable state so that they can make good decisions and move forward. Our goal is to empower women to navigate their past and develop coping strategies for a brighter future.

Program Speaker - Donnie Petersen
Donnie Petersen’s life purpose is the passionate pursuit of an excellent life for the glory of God. His greatest joy in this mission is his 25-year marriage to his wife, Shay, and their three children—Mekenzie (22), Morgan (20), and Chase (17). His professional journey has been marked by a commitment to leadership, excellence, and service. For the past 20 years, he has been the Operating Partner of Chick-fil-A on 9 Mile Rd in Pensacola, FL, where he has led a multimillion-dollar quick-service restaurant. This business has offered him the unique opportunity to influence thousands of team members through the leadership development program developed at 9 Mile Rd. This program is designed to cultivate a leadership culture at every level of the organization, empowering individuals to grow and lead with excellence.
Building on this experience, this year Donnie founded and launched Colere. Colere is a Latin word meaning “to cultivate.” Colere’s vision is to create a leadership ecosystem that identifies, develops, and deploys leaders who succeed with excellence. Through Colere, Donnie desires to continue to influence the business world by helping individuals and organizations with our experienced cultivation of our leadership structure.
Alongside his work in business, Donnie has served for 13 years as the full-time Pastor of Christ the King Baptist Church. His role as a spiritual leader has deepened his commitment to fostering leadership and integrity, both within the church and beyond. Donnie’s passion for leadership extends internationally to Cuilapa, Guatemala and Fort Portal, Uganda, where he serves as the Director of an NGO called YADI (Youth Action Development Initiative). These experiences have broadened his impact, giving him the privilege to influence communities and leaders around the world. Through his work in business, ministry, and leadership development, Donnie continues to seek opportunities to serve, speak, and consult wherever God leads him.
