Government
Pensacola is the seat of Escambia County. The administrative responsibility of the City rests with the City Manager who is appointed by the council. The city council consists of ten members. The administrative responsibility of the County rests with the County Administrator who is appointed by the Commission. The county commission consists of five commissioners.
Voting
Florida residents are allowed to vote at age 18 and older. An individual must register at least 30 days prior to an election and be a resident of the state.

Taxes
Pensacola, like all of Florida, has no income tax (corporate or personal). In place of an income tax, taxes are used to support the public schools, roads and services. The two most notable are property taxes and sales tax.

- Sales tax IN Escambia County is 7.5% (levied as follows: 6% State sales tax and 1.5% Local Option).
- The list of sales-taxable items varies, but Florida does not levy a tax on unprepared food or medicine.
