Events

Festivals abound year round in Pensacola. The biggest event of Pensacola’s summer festivities includes the world-famous Blue Angels. Supported by civilian and military performers, the Blue Angels Air Show on Pensacola Beach is a must-see event.

Every Thursday night during the summer, Evenings in Old Seville take place, a free concert series in Seville Square. Bring your picnic baskets and gather your friends an evening of music under the stars, courtesy of the Pensacola Heritage Foundation.

Held just three times a year, Gallery Night brings residents of Northwest Florida flocking to downtown Pensacola for a night on the town with the arts. Downtown Pensacola comes alive as galleries and businesses host everything from art exhibitions and live demonstrations to music events and other live cultural happenings.

With Pensacola as its home base, the Navy’s precision flight demonstration team, the Blue Angels, performs its final show of the season at Naval Air Station Pensacola at the Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show.

Thousands of people come for the Bushwacker Festival each August to enjoy live music and the famous Bushwacker drink! This year's event will be held on Pensacola beach hosted by Jubilee & Capt'n Fun's.

Held in Historic Bartram Park, the Crawfish Creole Fiesta is an annual celebration of the Cajun influence in the Northwest Florida Community. The event is one of the largest crawfish boils in state, with authentic bayou country entertainment and an expanded children and families’ activities area.

The Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival, has been dedicated to the memory of Frank Brown, "the night watchman and assistant to order, "whose moral values, integrity and strength of character added much to the past character of this beautiful region.

GraceFest is a faith-based community event organized by hundreds of volunteers who attend more than 40 churches encompassing 12 denominations. The event features national, regional and local independent Christian artists.

The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival. Hosting more than 200 fine art and craft exhibitors from around the country, this festival attracts 150,000 art fans to Pensacola’s historic Seville Square in Downtown Pensacola. The festival is consistently ranked in the top 100 fine art and craft shows in the Art Fair Source Book.

The Greek Festival is one of Pensacola’s largest and most popular outdoor events. Celebrating its 48th anniversary in 2007, there will be traditional Greek dances, gifts, entertainment, and dishes such as baklava, gyros, and spanakopeta. Dates are Nov. 9 - 11.

Named after a historical neighborhood of downtown Pensacola, Hawkshaw Music Fest made its debut on Jefferson Street in May 2007. With 16 bands and two stages, the festival boasted local and regional talent.

JazzFest - Pensacola’s historic Seville Square hosts this event filled with great jazz music performed by local and national talents.

With a Mardi Gras celebration dating back decades, Pensacola's family-style celebration includes parades, cook-offs and pageantry for weeks preceding Fat Tuesday.

The Pensacola Bay International Film and Television Festival is three fun-filled days of great films during the last weekend in October. Submissions include feature films, documentaries, animations, and short films.

Sample a variety of mouth-watering seafood dishes at the Pensacola Seafood Festival as you enjoy continuous live entertainment in Fountain Park, and start your holiday shopping early at more than 185 arts & crafts vendors.

Sports
The City of Champions, Pensacola, is home of many athletic greats and hosts exciting professional and amateur competitions at its diverse venues. Horse shows, rodeos and dogs shows are held at the 178-acre equine park. Beach volleyball, watersports and soccer tournaments are also held in the Pensacola Bay Area.

Pensacola's own athletic greats include world light heavyweight boxing champion Roy Jones Jr., Emmitt Smith, the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, Derrick Brooks, Super Bowl champ and NFL Defensive Player of the Year for 2002, PGA golfer Joe Durant, star baseball pitcher Don Sutton, the 2004 Athens Olympics World's Fastest Man Justin Gatlin and the player who scored the 2001 World Series winning run, Jay Bell of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Pensacola is home to the Ice Pilots hockey team, which competes in the East Coast Hockey League, the Pensacola Pelicans, the 2004 Central Baseball League 2nd Half East Division Champions, and the Pensacola Power of the National Women's Football League.

Auto racing fans will delight in the action at Five Flags Speedway. The annual Snowball Derby has drawn enthusiasts for more than 30 years as the event traditionally brings to a close the racing season throughout the United States.

Pensacola Greyhound Track offers fun, food and excitement during matinees and evening races.
